5 Reasons to visit Imagine That!!! children’s museum in N.J.

Editor’s note: In order to provide my readers with the best information, my family’s visit was compensated by the museum. All views expressed are my own.

Imagine That!!!! is a favorite destination for my kids, so when I learned the popular children’s museum in Florham Park, N.J.  was under new ownership — and getting a totally revamped design — I knew I had to check it out.

My family visited the museum over the break, and we were all thrilled by the wider space, updated play areas, expanded climbing section, new features and more.

5 Reasons To Visit Imagine That!!! (1)

Read on to see why Imagine That!!! is a must-visit for families in the New York/New Jersey metro area.

1. Spacious, stroller-friendly design

The renovated Imagine That features a wide, open floor plan, which allows parents to easily maneuver strollers of all sizes through the museum. The unobstructed views also enables families to keep an eye on their children without having to follow them from area to area. Yes, you can actually sit and watch your kids play!

2. All new sensory play features

Imagine That is a wonderful choice for families searching for an activity for kids with various sensory needs. For sensory avoiders, the museum is very calm, devoid of excessive noise and lights, and has plenty of quiet spaces. For sensory seekers, there are some wonderful new features, including the interactive light/sand touch area shown in the video below.

3. Expanded climbing areas for kids of all ages

Active kids will love climbing on the new indoor climbing and slide equipment. There are two separate play spaces: one for children ages 5 and over and one for smaller children, ages 0 to 4. In addition, children will be thrilled to climb and play on the all new pirate ship and fire truck. And, for the littlest visitors, there is an enclosed play space.

4. Endless opportunities for imaginative play and creative exploration

I will admit, when I first heard Imagine That was being rebuilt, I worried the museum would lose some of the wholesome charm I grew to love. I was relieved to find creative play was still the focus of the museum. My kids loved “shopping” in the expanded grocery store and dressing up like pirates and fireman. They also enjoyed drawing and painting in the arts and crafts area and experimenting with different instruments in the music room.

5. Friendly and helpful staff

During our visit, I observed the staff, and was pleased with what I saw. Friendly faces interacting with the kids to ensure everyone was having a good time. I also appreciated their patience, especially when doing things like gathering children together for a show in the museum’s new puppet theater, pictured above.

Imagine That!!! will celebrate its grand opening during the weekend of January 13 to 14. Guests will enjoy all the museums brand new features, as well as special performances by musician, Mr. Ray, Vince the Magician and appearances by Marshall from “Paw Patrol” and “Frozen’s” Anna and Elsa, and much more.

Imagine That!!! is located in Florham Park, Morris County, New Jersey. For more information, visit www.imaginethatmuseum.com, or check out the museum’s Facebook page for the latest news and updates on special events and more.
